The Red Sox acquired Mike Aviles from the Kansas City Royals for Yamaico Navarro. Its not much of a move but its an upgrade and adds some depth to the shortstop position which may not see Jed Lowrie return this year.
Mike Aviles – He was batting .222 with 5 home runs, 31 runs batted and 10 steals in 185 at bats. His uncle, Ramon Aviles, was a backup infielder for the Red Sox in 1977.
Yamaico Navarro – Hit .177 with one homer and eight rbi’s in 79 at bats over two seasons. One positive is he can play multiple infield and outfield positions.
