NFL Thoughts on NFL Week 17
Packers 45, Lions 41
-I’m not buying the Matt Flynn hype. I do buy the fact that Lions secondary isn’t great and the Packers’ weapons are excellent.
-Calvin Johnson is beast. That’s all.
49ers 34, Rams 27
-Solid effort by the Rams, but ultimately, they simply didn’t have the firepower.
-Not shocking that Spags got fired, but to be fair, his team was decimated by injuries.
Dolphins 19, Jets 17
-Santonio Holmes just doesn’t get it.
-Steve Slaton had 55 yards rushing. I once bet a friend a few years ago that Slaton would be better than some dude named Arian Foster. Oops.
Bears 17, Vikings 13
-Jared Allen finishes a half of sack short of Michael Strahan’s record. Thanks, Brett!
-Percy Harvin finishes with 87 catches. An impressive year for a guy always battling injuries.
Saints 45, Panthers 17
– Despite the Panthers only winning 6 games, I’m sure Ron Rivera was very happy in his rookie campaign as head coach.
– Not much else to say about Drew Brees. He’s a stud.
Patriots 49, Bills 21
– Ryan Fitzpatrick finishes with 24 touchdowns and 23 INTs, not a good ratio.
-Tom Brady finished with 39 touchdowns, 12 INTs, and over 5,200 passing yards and he’s not even the second best quarterback in the league this year.
Eagles 34, Redskins 10
– Guess which defense finished 8th in yards allowed…….yup that Juan Castillo’ defense.
-Not sure if you guys knew this, but Rex Grossman stinks.
Jaguars 19, Colts 13
-Andrew Luck will be a Colt.
-MJD leads the league in rushing with 1,606 yards which is only about 600 yards short of Blaine Gabbert’s passing yards.
Titans 23, Texans 22
-It will be interesting to see where the Titans go with QB next season. Locker showed glimises of promises, but Hasselbeck had a bounce back year.
-I understand while Munchak’s heart would be torn in picking Penn State or the Titans. It’s every coaches’ dreams to coach in the NFL, but the idea of trying to rebuild your college’s image is quite the resume builder.
Falcons 45, Bucs 24
-The Bucs quit. It’s a shame because Raheem Morris got fired for it.
-The Falcons go to New York to take on a Giants team with a hot quarterback.
Ravens 24, Bengals 16
-I think the Bengals upset the Texans.
-If the Ravens run the ball and take the ball out of Joe Flacco’s hands, they’ll represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. My guess, they get away from it against NE or Pittsburgh and lose.
Steelers 13, Browns 9
-Through all of the injuries, can Pittsburgh make a run? I say yes.
-Issac Redman went to Paulsboro High School which was in the same conference as mine. (Go Sterling!)
Chiefs 7, Broncos 3
-Orton gets his revenge.
-Has Tebow finally run its course?
Chargers 38, Raiders 26
-Seems the Chargers went on just enough a run to help Turner keep his job.
-Disappointing year for the Raiders as they finish 8-8 for the second year in a row.
Cardinals 23, Seahawks 20 OT
-Kevin Kolb in his 2nd official QB contrevsory.
-Interested to see if Seattle invests in QB because Tarvis Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst stink.
Giants 31, Cowboys 17
-Does anyone believe Jerry Jones when he says Jason Garrett will be back? The only way he is if Cowher or Fisher says no.
-No one wants to face Eli Manning. He can take this team on his back and start a run similar to 2007.
