A Captain’s Farewell

Jason Varitek has played his final baseball game. Varitek was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the first round of 1994 draft. He went on to play 15 seasons with the Boston Red Sox were he hit .256 with 1,307 hits, 193 home runs and 757 runs batted in. Varitek was a 3-time All-Star, Gold Glove winner and two-time World Series champion in his time with the Sox.

Varitek spent 15 seasons behind the plate in Boston.

Was a key member of the Red Sox team that broke the curse.

Varitek enjoyed another championship in 2007.

Took home a Gold Glove in 2005.

His fight with A-Rod lives in Boston infamy.
