Wood Retires

After striking out Dayan Viciedo, Kerry Wood called it a career. Wood had a 8.64 era with 6 strikeouts in 8 innings this season. He pitched 14 seasons for the Cubs, Indians and Yankees, where he had an 86-75 record with 63 saves and 1,582 strikeouts. Wood was a 2-time all-star, 1998 NL Rookie of the Year and struck out 20 Astros in one game in 1998.

Wood struck out 20 Houston Astros in a game in 1998, it was only his fifth career start.

He hit a big two-run homer against the Marlins in Game Seven of the 2003 NLCS.
