Western Conference Final Preview

The San Antonio Spurs have ran through the playoffs and have yet to lose a game. The Thunder swept the Mavericks and took care of the Lakers in 5 games. San Antonio has yet to allow their opponent to break the century mark. These teams play different styles, so it will be interesting to see if there will be a up tempo style to help the Thunder or a half court game to help the Spurs. The point guard match up of Tony Parker vs Russell Westbrook could make or break this series. Parker is a better game manager but Westbrook is quicker and more of a consistent scorer. Kawhi Leonard will have the biggest assignment of the series and that is to try to slow down Kevin Durant. The aging but still effective Tim Duncan will be tested by the shot blocking, defensive specialist Serge Ibaka in the post. Although the Thunder have the Sixth Man of the Year James Harden, the depth of San Antonio’s bench gives them the advantage. From the scoring ability of the pesky Manu Ginobili and the sharp shooting Matt Bonner, they can come at you from many ways. When the games come down to the final possessions, I will take the experience of  Parker, Ginobili and Duncan and the coaching excellence of Gregg Popovich over the very talented but still somewhat inexperienced Thunder.

Spurs in 6

Warren: Spurs in 5

Matt: Thunder in 6

Whoever wins the Parker-Westbrook matchup could go a long way to who wins the series.

Kawhi Leonard will have his hands full with Durant.

Even though the Thunder have James Harden, the depth of the Spurs bench with Matt Bonner and Ginobili give them the advantage.

With the game on the line, I have more confidence in Pop than Scott Brooks.
