Were we sleeping?

Title says it all.  Its been a little while since the blog received an update.  We do apologize and that will change in the coming days.  Unfortunately between vacations, classes & work obligations we were not able to spend much time with the blog.

So, what did we miss in the last week plus?

The NFL preseason wrapped up its first full week.  All 32 NFL teams have now participated in-game action.

Andrew Luck looked impressive in his Colts debut

Dwight Howard got traded!  Finally!?!?!?!?!  Yeah, we kind of just assumed this drama had ended a while ago as well.  Details below of the 4-team mega deal.

• Orlando sent center Dwight Howard, guard Chris Duhon and forward Earl Clark to the L.A. Lakers and guard Jason Richardson to Philadelphia. The Lakers sent center Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia and forward Josh McRoberts, forward Christian Eyenga and a 2017 first-round draft pick to Orlando. Philadelphia sent forward Andre Iguodala to Denver and forward Moe Harkless, center Nikola Vucevic and an undisclosed first-round draft pick to the Magic. Denver sent guard Arron Afflalo, forward Al Harrington and the lower of its 2014 first-round draft picks to the Magic.

The Tampa Bay Rays won 7 consecutive games.  The Rays behind a dominant pitching staff pull within 5 games of the Yankees, while also pulling into the driver’s seat of the wild card race.  This franchise has been very impressive over the course of the 5 seasons.

Finally, the 2012 Summer Olympics from London wrapped up.  The United States totaled 104 medals including 46 gold.  Both numbers finished at the games high.  Way to go America!
