Cincinnati Reds pitcher Homer Bailey threw the 7th no-hitter of the majors this season, blanking the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 tonight. On 115 pitches, Bailey struck out ten Pirates and only walked one.
After Clint Barmes reached on a Scott Rolen error in the third inning, the only other Pirate to reach base was Andrew McCutchen in the 7th inning on a walk.
McCutchen after stealing second, was thrown out trying to steal third for the 2nd out of the 7th inning. The only other threat was Garret Jones, one batter later, who hit a long fly ball to right, but Jay Bruce tracked it down. The last Reds no-hitter was a perfect game by Tom Browning on September 16th, 1988.
