Penn State Hires Franklin

Franklin was 24-15 at Vanderbilt in 3 seasons.

Now that Bill O’Brien left for the NFL, Penn State has found his replacement. James Franklin will officially be hired as the new Head Coach of Penn State Saturday at a news conference. Franklin is 41 years old and has been at Vanderbilt for the past three seasons. He compiled a 24-15 record and went 2-1 in bowl games. He is a native of Lansdale and a graduate of Neshaminy High School. Franklin got his first head coaching job at Vanderbilt, but was a coach at Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, James Madison, Washington State, Idaho State and the Green Bay Packers and Offensive Coordinator at Kansas State and Maryland. He is considered to be one of the top young coaches in the nation and like O’Brien has NFL aspirations.
