The Yankees continued their impressive off season by getting the top pitcher available. Masahiro Tanaka heads to Yankee Stadium after spending the last seven seasons in Japan with the Rakuten Eagles. Tanaka was 99-35 with a 2.30 era and 1,238 strikeouts. He will earn 155 million for seven years, which translates to 22 million a season and also has an opt out clause after the 2017 season. New York will also have to pay 20 million to the Eagles for Tanaka’s posting fee. Along with C.C. Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Ivan Nova the Yankees have a very formidable rotation heading into 2014.
