Noah is the first Bull to win Defensive Player of the Year since Michael Jordan.

The NBA award season began Monday with the Defensive Player of the Year award being handed out. Joakim Noah took home the award over Roy Hibbert and DeAndre Jordan. Noah averaged 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for the Bulls this season. He is the first Chicago Bull to win the Defensive Player award since Michael Jordan. In a tight race Gregg Popovich won the Coach of the Year award Tuesday. Popovich led the Spurs to a 62-20 record and the best record in the NBA. He edged out Jeff Hornacek, Tom Thibodeau, Steve Clifford and Dwane Casey for the award. Pop is the first coach to win this award three times. Popovich had the Spurs minutes away from an NBA title last season and has them hungry to finish the job this postseason.

Pop led the Spurs to 62 wins and the best record in the NBA.
