Youkilis Changes His Sox

Kevin Youkilis will now call Chicago home after spending 8 seasons in Boston.

After 8 years and 2 World Series titles in Boston, Kevin Youkilis will now have a new home. Youkilis was traded to the White Sox for Brent Lillibridge, Zach Stewart and cash. He was batting .225 with 4 home runs and 13 runs batted in 41 games this season. Stewart has pitched 30 innings over 18 games giving up 20 earned runs and striking out 16  with a 6.00 era. Lillibridge is batting .175 with 2 runs batted in and 7 stolen bases over 49 games. The emergence of top prospect Will Middlebrooks, the big contract of Adrian Gonzalez and the way David Ortiz is swinging the bat, left Youkilis the odd man out in the lineup and infield. Youkilis was a career .286 hitter with 133 home runs and 563 runs batted in his time in Boston. He was a 3-time all-star and won a gold glove in 20o7.  The Red Sox will pay 5.5 million of Youkilis’s 2012 contract to complete the deal. The White Sox are 38-34 atop the AL Central, while the Red Sox are 38-34 and are 5 games out of first in the AL East.
