Miami Marlins: All Time Low

Dear Miami Marlins,

Kevin here: Your one and only fan. After the recent news of your most recent fire sale, dumping the only proven talent and money makers on the team, one wonders the reasoning behind the moves you make. In the offseason of 2012, things were looking up for the former Florida Marlins, now Miami Marlins. It seemed to be a fresh start; changing names, colors, logos, and most importantly, an upgrade in talent. The acquisitions of Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell had the franchise looking up for the first time since winning the World Series in 2003. However, after a season of under achieving, disappointment and the trading of Hanley, Anibal Sanchez, and Omar Infante, the team was already looking to 2013. If the team could not get anymore disappointing, today the news broke of a blockbuster trade, which would send Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonifacio, John Buck, and Mark Buehrle to the Blue Jays for potentially nothing in return. Furthermore, the Miami Marlins fire Ozzie Guillen and hire Mike Redmond, the Blue Jays Single A manager last year. With Redmond familiar with the crop of prospects coming over to fill his roster, it will be as though he didn’t stop coaching a Single A team. To sum it all up, apart from Giancarlo Stanton, every key piece to the Miami Marlins of a year ago is gone. The only people affiliated with the Marlins who win in this deal are the cleaning crew, due to the fact that they will not have to clean any seats this coming year. Oh Hey Jeffrey Loria, if you didn’t have a fanbase before, you definitely don’t have one now. This is officially an ALL TIME LOW for this franchise.

Sincerely Insincerely yours,

A Disappointed Fan
